The picturesque village of Loddin is mentioned for the first time in a document of 1270, but probably the settlement was laid out much earlier. It is located on a promontory projecting into the large lake Achterwasser. Walking to the beach of the Baltic Sea at Koelpinsee will take about 45 minutes. Both places are districts of one municipality which is officially called seaside resort of Loddin-Koelpinsee.

Although there is even one large and a few smaller holiday homes, Loddin still gives the impression of being a sleepy farming and fishing village. It is formed mainly by small houses and farms, many of which are thatched. Anyone enjoying countryside holidays near a beach will prefer Loddin to all the big seaside resorts on the island of Usedom.

Right south of the village there is a beautiful hilly landscape called Loddiner Höft which is nearly completely surrounded by the lake Achterwasser. The western area of this landscape offers a fantastic view of the Achterwasser from a steep coast.
